Cityspace and The Place2Be
Friendship worries, bullying, behavioural difficulties, changes in family structure, transition to a new school, bereavement and loss - these are just some of the everyday issues that children are likely to face during their school life. These difficulties can create barriers to learning and make children feel unhappy, anxious, angry, confused and vulnerable. The Place2Be is a registered charity whose mission is to provide therapeutic and emotional support to children in schools by helping to address these worries and concerns.
The work aims to build emotional literacy and provide an effective means of support for children, their families and school staff. The Place2Be supports the 'whole' child in the context of both the school and home environments, and contributes to a healthy, positive school culture in which children feel safe and able to learn.
Cityspace has elected to support The Place2Be as its official charity for 2006 - 2008, providing not simply an annual corporate donation, but a range of creative and practical activities involving staff to increase awareness of the charity and the important work it carries out. Critically, Cityspace aims to help drive the charity's presence in schools across the country and support the resources it needs to train consultants and operate the national network; currently it reaches out to over 37,000 children in 112 schools.

Since announcing its support for The Place2Be in June 2006, Cityspace has planned a range of imaginative activities and events for the second half of the year:
Credit Suisse supports Place2Be! - 03 December 2007
Cityspace is delighted to announce that The Place2Be, has been selected by Credit Suisse as its ‘Charity of the Year 2008’. This represents a major source of support and profiling for the charity and our congratulations go to the team that worked so hard to secure the opportunity.
Thanks also go to the Cityspace staff who braved the cold to join in the ‘guerrilla lobbying’ outside Credit Suisse to help boost the nomination effort.
Cityspace continues to support The Place2Be throughout 2008 and wishes the organisation a successful New Year!

Wandsworth hub opening - painting posse - 10 September 2006
Cityspace staff rolled up their collective sleeves for a day of painting and decorating to help prepare a brand new six-school Place2Be hub in Wandsworth.
On Sunday 10th September, a team of a dozen or so volunteers from Cityspace engineers and IT support to sales and operations staff made up a voluntary 'painting posse' to decorate the six new dedicated Place2Be rooms and create bright new murals on playground walls.
The Place2Be rooms are equipped with art, play and drama therapy materials, providing children with a stimulating and safe haven within six Wandsworth schools in Eardley, High View, Sellincourt, Westbridge, Shaftesbury Park and The Vines, directly supporting over 2,000 children, their families and the wider community.
Whilst the Cityspace team is donating its time and creativity, London-based decorating centre SigmaKalon, office refurbishment company P&D Projects and local Wandsworth DIY centres B&Q and Homebase have all made generous donations of paint in a range of bright and cheerful colours. Plus the 'painting posse' was fed and watered thanks to the generosity of Caffè Nero and M&S.

The Brick Lane Barbie - 29 September 2006
A fund raising fest took place on Friday 29th September in London's famous Brick Lane at The Vibe Bar to support the great work being undertaken by The Place2Be. Staff and their guests were encouraged to make a donation directly to the charity via www.justgiving.com/bricklanebbq, whilst Cityspace sponsored the cost of the food and a complimentary drink.
More than 100 people joined the fun and frolics and a lucky few walked away with some great prizes.
Thanks once again to everyone who made donations, entered the prize draw and donated prizes. In total, we raised over £1,500 for The Place2Be.
Our customers, partners and visitors to this site are welcome to put forward ideas for activities and events to help us to support the great work being done by The Place2Be.
