Cityspace on track to capture rail market share

New CEO and appointment of senior rail management team reflects fast moving rail strategy

London, 11th February 2008 – Cityspace, a leading provider of urban digital networks, today announces the appointment of Andrew Fraser to Chief Executive, effective immediately.

Previously Divisional Managing Director for public sector firm Civica plc, Fraser has been appointed by the Cityspace board to take the £4m organisation to the next level; pivotal to this is the expansion of the company’s established transport division to deliver complete digital network solutions for UK Train Operating Companies.

“Cityspace is uniquely placed to support the government’s modal shift agenda and rail is one of the most fertile growth areas within its transport portfolio,” says Fraser.

“The company has proven technologies in delivering cost effective real-time passenger information and transactional services for rail, bus and air travel at the point of need, which is high on the agenda of every UK rail operator and Passenger Transport Executive.”

Commitment to its rail drive has been swiftly realised with the appointment of Joseph Lubczynskyj this month. Joe was previously director of business development for TEW Engineering Ltd where he consulted on infrastructure, communications, security and information & display systems for transport, retail and industrial sectors. With ten years of broad-reaching transport consultancy experience, from project management to systems design, Joe will head up the new business development drive for rail. He has already appointed Elaine Wright, also ex-TEW as rail project manager.

Commenting on his appointment, Joe said: “This is a very exciting time to join the company. Cityspace Transport has made great strides in developing unparalleled technology whilst delivering seamless deployments of complex transport networks. The company is building a solid reputation with transport decision makers and added investment at this time will pay significant dividends to all Cityspace stakeholders.”

The transport division has an impressive pipeline of new contracts with the UK’s leading national rail networks, with three announcements expected later this month.

With extensive senior management experience spanning national and global organisations, and responsibilities from acquisitions and mergers to flotations, Fraser also spent seven years with IDOX plc from where, as CEO for the £14m information and knowledge management software organisation, he led a management buy in from Lombard Risk Systems and subsequent flotation on the London Stock Market.

“Cityspace has come a very long way from being a kiosk business,” Fraser continues.

“It has clearly evolved to become a highly sophisticated provider of digital networks for people on the move. It has a great story to tell and I’m delighted to be on board as the journey continues.”
