Kent Fastrack scores a hat trick at The UK Bus Awards 2007

08 November 2007

London 8th November 2007 - As one of the key technology partners to Fastrack, Cityspace is delighted to offer a personal round of applause to the Kent Fastrack team on winning the coveted UK Bus Awards trophies in two key catagories and coming a close runner-up in a third at the awards ceremony on 7th November.

Winning Accolades

Fastrack Bus Rapid Transit was deemed by the ‘Alexander Dennis Award for Innovation’ judges at this year’s UK Bus Awards ‘to have demonstrated a truly impressive and innovative development, placing buses at the heart of the regeneration and community’ in the multi million pound Kent Thameside development.

Picking up its second gong of the evening for ‘The Colin Buchanan Award for Infrastructure’ Kent Fastrack was acknowledged for ‘its planning focused on delivering a service that would transform perceptions of bus travel and deliver model shift.’

Runner-up

Kent Fastrack was also nominated as runner-up in The Street Transit Award in which the judges remarked that its BRT (bus rapid transit) system will be critical to the longterm success of Kent Thameside, an area with huge development potential for up to 50,000 new jobs and 30,000 new homes over the next 20-30 years.

Cityspace is proud to have played a role in delivering integrated, interactive passenger information systems within the development and takes this opportunity to congratulate David George, all the partners in the project and the team at Kent County Council.

End.
