Fastrack takes ITS (United Kingdom) annual innovation award

Accolade represents endorsement of Cityspace as a key technology partner

Bus as Rapid Transit conference, London, 20 March 2008 - As one of the key technology partners to Fastrack, Cityspace is delighted to offer a personal round of applause to the Fastrack team on winning one of this year’s prestigious ITS (UK) annual innovation awards.

This is the latest in a series of awards for Fastrack, confirming the scheme as the best of its kind in the UK. The ITS (UK) award is given in recognition of a person, organisation, product or service that has done the most to further the development of a transport solution using Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

“We are proud to be a partner in such an extensively credited project,” said Guy Wolfenden, Director, Cityspace Transport.

“Cityspace is pleased to be playing a role in delivering integrated, interactive passenger information systems within this award-winning development and we take this opportunity to congratulate all the partners in the project and the team at Kent County Council.”

Cityspace equipment is deployed along the BRT route between Dartford and Gravesend, including along the new section serving Ebbsfleet International Station which opened at the end of last year. The company has also been selected to provide off-bus ticketing for Fastrack Route B.

“It is fantastic to receive yet further recognition of Fastrack’s innovation and importance through another national award. Cityspace is one in a team of exceptional technology partners for this project, and we recognise the pivotal role they all play in delivering the highest standards throughout the Fastrack system,” said David George, Fastrack project manager at the Kent Thameside Delivery Board.

This month marks two years since Fastrack began operation with the first route having been launched in March 2006. Over 3.5 million passengers have since been carried.
