ACIS and Cityspace partner up for real-time delivery

27 February 2006

Partnership represents a milestone in the delivery of passenger transport services

London, 27 February 2006 - Advanced Communications and Information Systems Ltd (ACIS), the leading provider of Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) systems and Cityspace, the UK's leading provider of urban digital networks today announce a reciprocal agreement to deliver real-time services to transport authorities.

This agreement provides for ACIS real-time services to be delivered across the Cityspace network of on-street digital terminals and screens throughout the UK in addition to the dedicated transport information displays provided by ACIS as part of its BusNet systems, and underpins the key goals of both companies of making public transport easier to use and improving the passenger experience.

For the first time, transport authorities will be able to purchase complete networks of Cityspace on-street terminals and screens with fully integrated ACIS real-time services and support from either company under a single contract.

"The commitment by ACIS to offer Cityspace terminals as an option in its packages as well as full engineering support to integrate RTPI into Cityspace systems is a major event in bringing Real-Time Passenger Information to new and existing digital transport networks," comments Guy Wolfenden, Transport Director, Cityspace.

Cityspace specialises in the development and deployment of on-street terminals that provide the travelling public with free access to digital travel information and wireless networks that provide cost effective communications links for the delivery of digital services as well as CCTV, traffic lights and wireless broadband for out of home users.

"As ACIS has by far the greatest RTPI coverage in terms of number of buses equipped and geographical coverage it made sense for us to partner with a company of similar profile. Cityspace currently has the largest number of on-street digital terminals, which allows us to bring the benefits of RTPI to the widest audience as quickly as possible," comments Guy Wolfenden, Transport Director, Cityspace.

"Working in partnership with Cityspace broadens our delivery options and enables ACIS' real time services to be deployed through a sophisticated, established urban digital network in the UK." says Keith Tompson (commercial Director), ACIS.

The demand for Real-Time Passenger Information systems for public transport is growing significantly as the pressure for modern, attractive and accessible bus and rail services increases.

"This agreement represents a real commitment to the public and local authorities by bringing together expertise from two leading companies to simplify the delivery and support of Real-Time Passenger Information services throughout the UK," concludes Tompson.
