Connectivity Options
Cityspace offers a combination of wired and wireless connectivity solutions to deliver digital services across a City network.
ADSL provides broadband communications where high bandwidth services are required. Where it is not possible or cost effective to deploy 'fixed wire' communications, Cityspace offers wireless broadband connectivity (Wi-Fi), providing a high speed communications link that could also be used for other related digital services.
This has already been successfully deployed in the UK and delivers the following benefits:
- Cost savings: on-going telecom charges may be reduced.
- Unrivalled flexibility: when a bus stop is moved to a new location, the communications follow.
- Minimal street disruption: no need to dig up the highway to install fixed communications lines.
Once installed, wireless broadband technology can provide high bandwidth backhaul connectivity to deliver a number of other transport and highways services including:
- CCTV camera technology, providing 24/7 monitoring of bus shelters
- Street Lighting, improving an authorities ability to keep more lights on more of the time, a factor that can make people and businesses feel more secure
- Traffic Lights priority, helping to reduce traffic disruptions through remote monitoring and control
- Webcam, ideal for monitoring contractors who are on projects which are disruptive if they overrun - such as road repairs
- Bus Lane enforcement, providing wireless connectivity to roadside and on-bus video cameras
- On-street ticketing, providing communications connectivity to ticket terminals without having to undertake groundworks to install fixed communications links
- Speed Cameras, providing high speed connectivity between roadside cameras and the central control room without the need to install fixed line broadband communications links.
- Wireless (Wi-Fi) hotzone, providing broadband internet access in public spaces across wide-areas - such as stations and bus interchanges.
